About Me

C.P. Stewart

I’m C.P. Stewart, an attorney based in Hillsborough, North Carolina, at Cheshire & Parker (D. Michael Parker, Esq.) where I focus my practice on real-estate closings, estate planning, VA disability matters, and complex property and land-use issues.

My journey into law began (somewhat clumsily) as an Arabic Linguist in the United States Marine Corps. As such, service and discipline shape the way I live my life and, coincidentally, how I practice law. I practice law using a simple philosophy: give people clear answers, practical solutions, and a lawyer who will actually pick up the phone. Whether I’m guiding a first-time homebuyer through a closing, helping a family secure the future of their land, or advising an administrator in a tangled estate, I approach every matter with precision, patience, and a deep respect for the people behind the paperwork.

My legal work is grounded in the communities of Orange and Chatham Counties, where I handle partition actions, quiet-title suits, estate real-property sales, trust and deed drafting, and property disputes involving farmland, easements, and generational title. I’ve become known for taking on cases others consider “too messy”—heirs’ property, survey problems, unrecorded deeds, guardianship-related sales, and tax-deferred farmland issues—and bringing order to situations that have been unresolved for years.

I also help veterans navigate VA disability claims, drawing on both personal experience and years of assisting other servicemembers.

Outside of my casework, I am deeply involved in community education. I teach classes on wills, trusts, real-estate fundamentals, and powers of attorney, and I regularly speak at local gatherings—including the VFW—about planning, property rights, and protecting family land. My goal, in every interaction, is to empower people with knowledge, and want my law practice to serve my community with integrity, clarity, and respect.
